Bbbbrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....
Poor Ollie.
Not only did he have to deal with his house in a state of havoc (our Thanksgiving tradition is to begin decorating for Christmas...the trees go up), but he had to deal with a norther coming in around noon. The temperature dropped 40 degrees in a little less than an hour, and he went from place to place to place....just trying to get warm. No joy.
Until....I "preheated" the bed with the electric blanket before I laid down. And then OHMIGOD...Cat Magnet! Even Howdy got into the act. LOL

Back home
I got back home Saturday like I'd planned, but things were just too hectic to post an Ollie blog update.
Bless his little heart, Ollie was VERY happy to see me...and his best friend, the humidifier. :)
Much purring. Much lap time. Much vocalizing. Much following in my footsteps (Shadows are black, right? *g*).
Two days later, and he's still rather reluctant to let me out of his sight. I've had to give Howdy some Mom Time, though, so Ollie spent this afternoon in the front room. Funny how Howdy used to be my demanding cat...she's far and away the least demanding now, though.
As far as the usual postings go, I think I'm going to take this week off from the Artful Cat posting since I'm still getting caught up. Sadly, there are no Black Cats for Black Cat Friday, though with Friday being the day after Thanksgiving, I suspect that post would be skipped.
I plan to resume the Sunday with Ollie post this coming Sunday...I suspect I already know what that will be since our holiday decorating will be in full swing. Something tells me that Ollie and Christmas trees will be a volatile mix.
Anyway, all is well here with everyone, and expect to see us back on schedule starting Sunday.
I hope everyone has a bountiful and safe Thanksgiving!

I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited!!!
Daddy is nice, but he's A-L-L-E-R-G-I-C to me. He also says I'm a P-E-S-T cuz I want to be in his lap when he tries to work. I have been SOOOOOOOOOOOOO lonely for the last week. Even with Howdy. Howdy is nice, but Howdy isn't my Meowmy.
She's talked to me on the phone, but it's just NOT THE SAME!
I can hardly wait. Just a few more hours!

Blog vacation still on
Just a reminder that Ollie's blog will still be on vacation this week.
I'm due back home on Saturday, and I may be able to do a quick post on Sunday.
Randall said Ollie is doing well, though he was a pest today. And when he held the phone up to him and had me talk to him, Randall said his purring kicked in and he started trying to mark the phone.

Black Cat Friday, November 5, 2010
We've got us a pair of girls today as the Black Cat Friday feature. :)
Their story:
We are two all (and we do mean ALL) black kitties, named Anne Bonny & Mary Read. (after a couple of 18th Century pirate girls)
We blog (a little) at Lee County Clowder (http://leecountyclowder.blogspot.com/) and live in the Midwest (Iowa).
Our gotcha story played out pretty much real time on our blog, starting here, through here, here, and ending here.
If you want the Cliff Notes version, there is a vacant lot across the street, with some fields behind that. People goes back there on some side roads, and dump cats, dogs, and probably other things. He kept some food outside for his own kitties, and we started sneaking by to eat there ourselves. Eventually, we managed to convince Dad he needed to adopt us.

Blog Vacation
Ollie isn't real happy with me, but there's nothing for it, really.
I'll be on vacation from blogging from Saturday, November 6 until Saturday, November 20. I've got to leave town, so Ollie will be here with Howdy, Dad, and two of the dogs.
Randall isn't too sure how Ollie will handle this, since he can be quite the pest when he wants to be. That may mean time with Howdy isolated in the front room while Randall tries to get work done.
I'll be checking in on how things are going, and I may post a quick "Here's How Ollie Is Doing" post, but I can't make any promises.
For those of you who want to send in photos for BCF, please do. I'll not be able to reply really until I get back, but I will once I get home.

Group turns up volume to fight Garland animal shelter's gassing
Good for them!
Tired of fighting City Hall and being ignored, a group of Garland residents who are seeking to dismantle the gas chamber at the city's animal shelter has resorted to more abrasive tactics.
Citizens for Reform of the Animal Shelter has embarked on a campaign to damage the city's reputation through public demonstrations and social media. The group has 2,500 friends on Facebook. Last week two dozen used the city's Neighborhood Summit, an event that was supposed to showcase city services, as an opportunity to spread their message.
