Back when Ollie's blog was originally set up, Blogger had a very limited range of blog designs. Then they changed that, but I knew I was getting ready to shift all the blogs over to Wordpress, so I didn't bother with a redesign.
Then we came back after a few months over at Wordpress, and life was just too busy to do any layout changes.
This morning I started. Right now, I've made the initial changes, but there may be more to come. If you see something that's broken or that you loathe (or really like for that matter), post in the comments to me. I'll be making more changes later, so your suggestion might not happen immediately, but I can promise you, it will go in my notes to at least look at. :)
Note: One thing I won't change is the blog post text color or background...at least beyond a dark text on a light background. There's a reason books are printed in black text on white...and that's the way the text contrast will stay here.

I Told Meomy....
everything was gonna be fine. I told her last week. She didn't believe ME! **hmph**
Told her and told her and told her. And this afternoon she found out I was RIGHT!
That'll teach her not to listen to ME...wise black cat that I am. I knew last week her CT Scan was gonna be clean and she didn't have to worry about that nasty stuff coming back. No more cancer....NO WAY...NO HOW!!!
I was RIGHT!!!
(Yes. Ollie, honey, you were. Now, remember what I said about having a little humility..... ~ Meowmy...who is very relieved Ollie was right and the cancer hadn't come back.)

Shelter Cat Saturday Request
Folks,
Ollie and I need your help. We'd like to solicit needy black (or mainly black) shelter cats for our Shelter Cat Saturday post. This is the excerpted original post announcing the blog feature:
What I'd like to do is concentrate on black or predominantly black (and we'll include the black torties and dark grey/smoke colors) cats. These cats need to be either in a shelter or rescue group or in a foster home. They can be any age, either sex and any coat length...the main thing is their color.
What I'll need sent to ollie@dh dot gridspace dot net is the following:

Also, if one of the black cats gets adopted, shoot me a quick blurb and picture, and I'll be more than happy to post it on Ollie's blog.
And please, feel free to spread the word about what we're doing here. Getting the black cats into permanent, loving homes is the goal. The more people who pass through here, the more possible adoptions we can get. Everyone benefits.

Memorial Edition: Black Cat Friday
Earlier in the year, when Ollie's blog had a Black Cat Friday, a lovely ebony Oriental Shorthair was featured. Circe was also the last official Black Cat Friday entry, so I felt it would honor her best by posting the memorial edition on a Friday.
Last weekend, I learned that Circe ran off to the Bridge not long ago. Her mom, Margo, told me what happened:
Circe was diagnosed with Malignant Lymphoma a year and a half ago. We were treating her with chemo and she was doing so well. The lymphoma was controlled. But she was losing weight and finally she wasn't eating well and seemed lethargic. She had ultrasounds and we discovered she had Restrictive Cardiomyopathy. Her chest was drained and she was put on heart meds and seemed to be doing really well and was gaining some weight.
The morning that it all came to an end she kept asking me to throw Ms. Purple for her. I threw her up on the bed and Circe was catching her in her front paws. Two hours later she suddenly threw a clot which went into her spinal column and was paralyzed. We had to have her euthanized.
I can't begin to tell you how awful it has been. We have never loved any of our cats as much as we loved Circe. She was Queen of our household. She is buried in the back yard with Ms. Purple in her arms. Thank you for asking, Donna. I think you probably know what it has been like. The large hospital that our vet is associated with was in shock. They sent us flowers and beautiful cards. Our vet said they were all crying. Circe touched everyone she ever met.
Our hearts go out to Margo and everyone else who knew and loved Circe...losing a furkid is never, ever easy.
