Ollie was sitting here on my desk when I was updating some photos for the Georgetown shelter, and when I got to Howie, he raised his paw, batted at the screen and said "HIM"...well, not exactly, but you know what I mean.

Howie's circumstances are sort of sad. His owner had to move and could only take one pet...and the pet chosen was the dog. As you can imagine, Howie wasn't too thrilled with that! He's a sweet boy who is laid back, gets along with everyone, and really, really, REALLY deserves his own home...a FOREVER home!

So Ollie says it's Road Trip Time...drive on down to the Georgetown shelter and adopt yourself a handsome boy. Ollie will thank you and HOWIE will thank you!

This week's TAC is postponed until next week.

March 27 is the day we've reserved to honor the pets that we've lost over the years. It's the anniversary of the death of my first show dog, Gusto, and with as many furkids as we have had over the years, trying to keep track of all the dates each went to the Bridge was just too much. So we've chosen this one day to honor them all.

Ollie went up to Irving this weekend for his SCS selection. Tux is one handsome dude, and from all indications, a staff favorite and a really friendly boy who should have been in his forever home a LLLLOOONNNGGG time ago.

Since today is St. Patrick's Day, Ollie was looking for something a little bit different...a green cat was obviously out of the question, so he poked around and low and behold, he found himself a Manx/Maine Coon boy living up with the good folks at Merlin's Hope in the Dallas area...Roy Roy.

Ollie is just really proud of himself for locating a special boy for a special day. So for those of you looking for a black beauty of a bit different type, get hold of Melinda at Merlin's Hope and schedule a meet and greet with Rob Roy. And take him home...he wants a forever place to sit his little stumpy self!

SCS Adopted!

Always nice to start a new shelter's portal stuff with an adoption. Last Saturday's SCS, Caro, from Georgetown was adopted! Ollie's first Georgetown cat and he's out of the building!

Ollie's Adopt Me mojo is apparently still working...the two ladies from Carrollton, Janna and Cleopatra, made it out of the shelter! One went to rescue and one was adopted outright.

WOOT!!! Many happy tails to the girls who were the SCS selections for February 25.

Something I've always wished I could do is sew. But hand me a needle and thread and I become all thumbs. And I keep thinking if I JUST had more tools, I'd be OK. **sigh** Probably not, but still, pin cushions are practical even if I CAN'T sew...and there are a whole lot of them.

So today's TAC is black cat pin cushions. Buy a pin cushion. Stick pins in it. Even *I* can do that!

I swear, I had NOTHING to do with today's SWO feature showing up with Thursday's date. It was done like it was always done (on Saturday) and scheduled for publication on Sunday at 7:02. But for reasons I canNOT figure it, it published yesterday with a date of Thursday, March 1...so it didn't even manage to get the week right.

Ollie was really excited when I told him I'd volunteered to help another shelter with their portal updating and that they had a couple of SCS candidates.

He got up on the desk and he looked and he pondered. He pondered and he looked. And finally he decided on the handsome Caro for today's SCS. Caro has beautiful golden eyes, and he's friendly and sweet. He's been at the shelter since mid-January, and that's just way too long for such a pretty boy.

Caro is ready to go. He'd like to come home with YOU. So really, don't you feel the need for a bit of a road trip? He's right on I35 in Georgetown...not far. Seriously. Go. Get. Caro. Bring. Him. Home.

So how on earth can Ollie pass up a chance to promote another Ollie as today's Shelter Cat Saturday? Well, he can't. He told me most specifically that TODAY was Ollie's day...I, being well trained, smiled and nodded.

Ollie is another owner surrender (his family moved and he couldn't go with him) who is sweet and playful, though confused as to how he went from a home to a shelter. He's at the Irving shelter, and he is really looking for someone who will give him what he deserves...a real, true FOREVER home.
