Sunday with Ollie, December 11, 2011

Is taking the day off today...mainly because I lost time somewhere this week and wasn't thinking today was Sunday! (I'm going to HAVE to get some extras set aside for these days when I've lost my mind.)

    Laura,

    I was trying to get a dachshund into surgery and bring him back here to recover for a couple of weeks before he left for a different foster home.

    Unfortunately, what started out as a broken rear leg and fractured pelvis tuned into a rear leg broken in two places, along with the other rear leg broken in one place, plus the fractured pelvis and a compromised spine.

    Sadly, it was too much for him and we had to put him down.

    I think that's what happened to my week...or at least three days of it. :(

    So sorry, Donna. All of the animals that pass through our lives leave a touch on our hearts. We have such great hopes for them, and then when that fails, we feel like we've failed. But to the animal, that's just the way it is. Makes me think that they have a better handle on life than we do . . .

As of 11/3/12, I've had to limit comments on Ollie's blog to only members since it's being hit by a ton of comment spam. If a few weeks, I'll open it back up. Since Ollie is currently on vacation, I don't expect it to be a problem.
