Moving off Blogger soon

Folks,

Due to some constant changes that Blogger makes, I'm going to move Ollie's blog to another platform. I hate to do that, but Blogger has made itself damned near unworkable for what I do here, and moving it is the only option.

It won't happen this week, and I'll post linky goodness when it does, but expect it within the next week to 10 days. The look will change, but there's nothing for it. I've struggled with Blogger as much as I'm going to. Ollie's blog is supposed to be fun, and the changes that are made each week keeps it from being that.

Stay tuned for moving information.

  2. Granny,

I'll be posting links and stuff showing the new blog. Hopefully that will help folks.

I hate to have to do this, but Google's constant tinkering is just killing me. The Artful Cats post is particularly difficult since Google keeps changing the way it handles photos and links.

    Total PITA. :(

  3. Looking forward to seeing the new place. I've had some complaints about the 'changes' of late, but haven't been brave enough to change 'taxis' yet. I do have another site with my name on it, but .....

  4. Roy,

I don't think Blogger ever handled photos well when there are as many as the Artful Cat posts. That was almost enough to make me change a few months ago, but I decided it was an awful lot of trouble.

Then I had to start using Chrome a few weeks ago because of how Blogger was handling affiliate links from Amazon.

This week they changed it so I have to load each photo onto the blog separately. That's just too much.

I've got several blogs, and I suspect eventually they'll all be moved, but Ollie's is the main one, so once we can get a Drupal site set up, that's what we'll do. Things will change over there as I experiment, but that happens here, too.

  5. Sorry that it's causing you such trouble. That's no fun at all! I'm wondering what will happen to the history (the archives) of this blog. Will it remain here or can it be moved? As you can tell, I'm not familiar with how blogs work. Your Ollie blog is my favorite.

  6. Laura,

Talking it over with my husband a bit this afternoon, and we'll have this on our own domain and run it through a Wordpress template.

From what he has told me, it's relatively simple to import Blogger stuff into it. So, if the archives can be pulled in, that's what I'll do.

If possible, too, I'll leave a copy of the blog here but close any commenting ability.

It's going to take a bit of playing to see just what all will need to change.

  7. My mom had to move from Blogger because was starting to scratch up OUR post if you can believe it because she was so frustrated...She's on Wordpress now and is finally purring with happiness. If you want to move to Wordpress and need any help, our mom is super happy to help. We of course will be supervising her if you want her to.
We're so happy we found you...

  8. Good for you!

    Loved the Artful Tuesday doormats!

Please let me know when, and where you move, as I always include your Tuesday & Saturday Specials in a weekly round-up I do. ;-D

  9. Nikita,

I definitely will let everyone know where we go.

We're buying a domain today to set up for our blogs, so we'll be able to do a lot of the set up and testing this week.

Since Ollie and I are taking a vacation this week, we should be good to go by next Sunday.

    **fingers crossed**

As of 11/3/12, I've had to limit comments on Ollie's blog to only members since it's being hit by a ton of comment spam. If a few weeks, I'll open it back up. Since Ollie is currently on vacation, I don't expect it to be a problem.

Note: Only a member of this blog may post a comment.
